Pahalgam, May 27 (KNO): In a powerful gesture aimed at restoring normalcy and boosting public confidence, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was seen cycling through the picturesque town of Pahalgam along with his sons on Tuesday.
As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Pahalgam market came alive with the appearance of Chief Minister as tourist footfall in Pahalgam has died down after a deadly terror attack.
The Chief Minister’s visit was widely perceived as a symbolic move to show that life must go on despite attempts to create fear and unrest.
“Pahalgam has always been a symbol of peace, beauty and resilience. We cannot let one act of terror overshadow its spirit. By being here with my sons, I want to send a message that Kashmir is safe, and tourists are welcome,” Omar said.
Local shopkeepers and hoteliers expressed appreciation for the leader’s presence. “It sends a strong message to the world that Pahalgam is returning to normal,” said Nazir Ahmad, a local vendor.
“Tourism is our lifeline. We hope this visit encourages more people to come,” they said.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also visited Nunwan Base Camp to take stock of arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY-2025).
The Chief Minister has reviewed facilities and interacted with officials on the ground. He also emphasized seamless coordination to ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims—(KNO)
